Item No. 1202 French, Louis XV period, bureau de pente In palissandre de Rio (Brazilian rosewood) with bronze d'ore mounts, the whole resting upon cabriole legs terminating in bronze sabot feet. Slant front opens to reveal a leather writing surface and five drawers. Circa 1750. Attributed to Jean Lapie. Provenance: Sold Sotheby's, NY, November 11, 2000, Lot 171 39½" wide by 38" high by 17½" deep

Item No. 1185 Exceptional, Venetian, Rococo period, Lacca Povera commode scriban The rectangular top above the slant-front, opening to a writing surface with a central pigeonhole flanked by four short drawers, above the serpentine-fronted body with two long drawers, the paneled sides, raised on cabriole legs. Lacca Povera (also known as "Lacca Contrafatta") was a form of art originating in Venice incorporating decoupage (the cutting out of figural or natural forms), which are adhered to a solid surface, painted and hand-engraved, and then covered with a layer of layer of lacquer. Mid-18th century. 50" wide by 43" high by 22¾" deep

Item No. 1166 French, Louis XV style, marquetry-inlaid bureau de pente Inlaid with a combination of exotic woods, including walnut, Brazilian rosewood, satinwood, and birdseye maple; having a fall-front, which opens to reveal a writing surface and interior drawers; the whole resting upon four cabriole legs with bronze d'ore ornament. In the manner of Hache (Grenoble, France). 19th century. 38¾" wide by 34¼" tall by 19½" deep

Item No. 1085 French, Louis XVI period, marquetry-inlaid secretaire abattant In rosewood, walnut, and satinwood; having original marble top in gray with white veining; the fall-front opening to reveal a writing surface and interior drawers. Late 18th century. Bearing the signature of Jean Laurent Cosson ("COSSON"). 58½" high by 41" wide by 18" deep

Item No. 872 Very fine, French provincial, Regence period secretaire en bibliotheque From Southwestern France bearing the "Croix de Malte" in marquetry and with chapeau de gendarme cornice and arbalette façade on the drawers of the bottom compartment. Circa 1715-1727. 98½" high by 44¾" wide by 22½" deep

Item No. 816 Catalan, Baroque period, marquetry-inlaid, slant-front bureau In walnut veneer with boxwood inlay, monogram surmounted by a crown. Two small external drawers above three long drawers, with an additional six interior drawers behind fold-down writing compartment. First half of the 18th century. 49½" high by 46" wide by 23½" deep

The rectangular case enclosing fourteen drawers and two cupboard doors, on a later walnut stand fitted with two small drawers and with later carved embellishments. 59½" high by by 47¾" wide by 17½" deep

Item No. 781 Italian, Louis XV period, inlaid secretary In walnut and fruitwood with slant-front stand in two parts, the upper part with arched molded cornice above a pair of cupboard doors; the slant front enclosing a fitted interior above a frieze drawer, raised on cabriole legs; inlaid to form foliate scrolls and flowerheads. From Piedmont. Mid-18th century. 87" tall by 52½" wide by 26" deep

Item No. 761 Italian, Louis XV period, painted scriban With double chapeau de gendarme cornice and fold-down writing surface. Upper compartment comprised of two doors which open to reveal six drawers. Bottom, fold-down writing compartment opens to reveal five additional drawers. Mid-18th century. 48" wide by 24" deep (37" deep open) by 82" high
