Large, Important, French cache pot

Manufactured by the royal porcelain maker, Sèvres, in painted and gilded porcelain with gilt bronze mounts for the last French King, Louis Phillippe (r. 1830-1848).

The interior bears two stamps, the first having the King's monogram (LP) and the date (1844), and the other bearing the mark for "Château des tuileries", the royal residence where the piece was to be displayed.

In solid, carved giltwood. One of the period (mid-18th century), the other later (19th century). Each having six legs elegantly carved with shells, acanthus leaves, and pomegranates.

Created for le Château de Dampierre, a castle in Dampierre-en-Yvelines, in the Vallée de Chevreuse, France.

Very fine, French, Louis XVI period, brass mounted console desserte

In solid mahogany and mahogany veneers. Of demi-lune form with three functioning drawers and original hardware. Circa 1780. Stamped "E. AVRIL JME".

(Etienne Avril, Master 1774, was a principle supplier of furniture to Marie Antoinette at the Château de Saint-Cloud.)
