Item No. 1173 Italian, Renaissance period cassone In solid carved walnut, vigorously sculpted with leaves, vines and other vegetation; the façade featuring framed allegorical figures and flanked by caryatids, the gadrooned lid with tabernacle featuring sliding door which opens to reveal secret compartment, the bottom apron adorned with garlands of fruit, the whole resting upon elongated claw feet.
