A pair of chairs, identical in form, that were crafted in different periods; typically, one of the chairs was constructed in the 18th century while the other was added in the 19th century to complete the pair.

Pair of French, Louis XV style canapés

In solid, carved giltwood. One of the period (mid-18th century), the other later (19th century). Each having six legs elegantly carved with shells, acanthus leaves, and pomegranates.

Created for le Château de Dampierre, a castle in Dampierre-en-Yvelines, in the Vallée de Chevreuse, France.

Pair of Louis XIV style fauteuils

In solid walnut with the "Les os de mouton" (sheep's horn) stretchers characteristic of Louis XIV furniture. One of these identical chairs was carved in the 17th century while the other was added in the 19th century to complete the pair ("fausse paire").
